Chinese ink painting: Comics & Anime — Ink Characters & Zen Lines
Englischsprachiger Kurs
Dozent:
Hui Song
Material: - Some newspapers
- sturdy clothing that can get dirty.
This playful and contemporary course blends the freedom of East Asian brushwork with the visual language of comics and anime. After learning essential ink techniques, participants explore how traditional strokes, tonal washes, and calligraphic lines can be transformed into expressive faces, dynamic poses, and stylized characters.
You will experiment with ink-based character design — drawing inspiration from both Zen portraiture (such as classical Daruma figures) and modern illustration. We alternate between studying favorite characters and creating original designs, discovering along the way how water, line, and spontaneity enrich visual storytelling.
Perfect for beginners, comic and anime enthusiasts, and anyone interested in connecting traditional ink art with contemporary pop culture.
Hui Song, born in Confucius’ hometown, was immersed in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy from an early age. He trained professionally in Chinese painting and mounting techniques and holds degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine and International Business.
